Out The Door! tells of when the realisation dawns that all the things his previous girlfriend said about him were right and it’s time for you to ditch this guy, walk Out The Door, and get back to having fun with your mates!  

This upbeat release is a lyrically clever bop with beautiful sibling harmonies with a sound reminiscent of First Aid Kit and we think it’s the perfect summer release.

The girls have written another empowering pop masterpiece which tells of the moment you realise that this one-time dreamboat guy was a huge mistake and a ‘Mess (And A Half)’. He is so messed up and your ‘biggest mistake’ but now you’re ‘awake’ and can see him for what he was all along. 

Metaphors of battles, lords and princes, transport the listener to a fairytale world contrasting with the reality of the ‘battle scars’. The synth-y power chords are reminiscent of modern day pop princesses Maisie Peters and Taylor Swift, but the duo’s familiar harmonies still take centre stage in this release.

'Mr Perfect' is a real foot-tapping bop of a release; just the song to cheer you up ! You know when you think you’ve found Mr Perfect and you hang on each others’ words and it’s oh so peachy perfect? But give it a few weeks or months and it becomes all too obvious that this guy is good at saying the right thing when it suits ... but he’s really not that invested in you. It’s time to cut this loser loose! 

This track marks the beginning of a new era for Twayn, going into 2024 with a more pop-centric sound ready for festivals and upcoming gigs.

 Twayn's four track, debut EP talks all about romance, love and heartbreak.  

It includes four tracks:

Criminal - the rock track of the EP, all about someone coming back in to your life when you've tried hard to block them.

Try Not To Cry - back to the classic harmony driven, piano ballads, this song is about trying to gently break up with someone.

Love You And Lose You - another ballad which explains why you just knew you had to be cruel to be kind.

  ‘Boarding Pass’ takes the girls music in a slightly different direction and gets their debut EP ('Cupid Isn't Real') off to a flying start with haunting synths, punchy brass and Grace's beautiful vocals. The
track tells the story of the romantic interest leaving for a new girl, having “never
even loved me anyway”. Metaphors such as “first class, sipping champagne on your
way there” also illustrate the development in Twayn’s lyricism and artistry. The final
moments of the track provide intrigue as an announcement is made: “Will all
passengers boarding flight 308 please proceed to Gate 16".

 ‘I Went On A Date Today’ is a heart-wrenching, honest ‘message to an ex’ which plays out the agony of going on a date with someone new, whilst deep down still pining for a previous love.  This sweet ballad talks of the guilt when, try as you might, you just don’t feel the same way for this new person. The lyrics are sweet and reflective and sung with openness and complete honesty.  “I went on a date today and thought about you the whole time … I kept on wondering what it would be like if it was you. Why did flirting feel like feel like such a lie, why didn’t it feel true”.  

These beautiful lyrics are certain to resonate with anyone who still has feelings for a former love.

'XOXO' is a slightly funkier, pop vibe compared to previous releases which have been more pared back with focus on acoustic harmonies.   GenZ themes continue with this ‘revenge’ track which lyrically references being left out of birthday celebrations of those who have purported to be friends for years and points out how unpleasant and unkind this behaviour has been.  The track makes obvious the deep sense of hurt and unfairness that being left out and marginalized has caused.  The gem of the track vocalizes the determination that, once they begin to move on with their lives and into new circles, they will quite simply ‘return the favour’ and ignore the old, fake friend when they come knocking to be part of their future success.

Lyrically this track speaks to the importance of song writing as a mechanism to cope with the challenges of being a teenager in today’s social media world. Pain-filled lyrics such as, 'Stop framing me to be the villain', and, 'Don't forget I'm human too', evoke the sense of hurt and heartache that can be caused by uninformed speculation. The truth at the core of the song is that song writing, and music generally, help and heal and that’s a good thing.

Hannah and Grace say, "Post Script tells of how writing down thoughts and feelings can provide you with comfort, whilst navigating all the challenges that life throws at you. We see this track as drawing a line on our school years. It’s an end to one phase of our lives, and the dawn of an exciting new chapter for Twayn as we focus on music full-time with financial support from Help Musicians.”

The twins are doing it again with another terrific ballad. 'Your Stupid Show' was written during Covid lockdown, "the year the world went mad", and is about being 'ghosted' and ultimately losing a relationship at a really challenging time. This track is full of the beautiful harmonies we've come to expect from this talented young duo and a little bit of accordion adds an unique sound.

The girls say, "We are so excited to be releasing this track which means a lot to us.  We have lots more new music coming out this year which we can't wait to share".

Just 18 years old but writing songs that truly tap into Gen-Z themes, Twayn is set for big things.

Talking about the inspiration behind their latest song, Hannah and Grace said, "Don't Do Drugs brings a new edge to our music and contrasts with our previous harmony-driven ballads.  We wanted this song to have strong drums and more of a rock vibe.  It also had the surprising addition of Hannah playing a bit of Ukelele to give a slightly querky intro".

'sweet 16' is a song from the heart which served Twayn so well in 2022.  It gained them a top 10 place in the Song Academy song writing comp (SAYS22) and an amazing 2nd place in the Liverpool International song writing competition (Road to Nashville 2022) out of over 20,000 entries.  All about the struggles of teenage years, this song showcases the girls' amazing vocal harmonies.

'What Dreams Are Made Of' is the debut track from Twayn. It combines Grace’s song writing and lead vocals with Hannah’s arrangement and backing vocals. The song was created in conjunction with ISG, Platform North East and Kycker.  It describes the sadness of falling for someone you realise isn't interested in you in that way and how you come to terms with the situation when he falls for someone else.
